And because protecting your privacy is very important, we have adopted this policy to safeguard your personal information and protect its confidentiality. We will limit the collection and use of personal information to what is necessary to administer our business, provide you with the highest quality visit, and offer you information we think will be of interest.

Scope of Policy

The information provided in this Privacy Policy covers your interactions on the Site as well as any and all features, applications, emails, content, downloads, products and services offered through the Site.

The Site is intended for use by an adult general audience. The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13 and AutoVIN does not knowingly solicit personal information from or market to children under the age of 13. If we learn that anyone under the age of 13 has provided any personal information through the Site, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to promptly delete it.

If you are located outside the United States, please note that personal information collected via the Site may be transferred to the United States and other countries which might not provide an equivalent level of protection as the data protection laws in your own country.

Certain portions of the Site may only be accessible to registered users and such access may be subject to additional terms and conditions.

Collection and Use

Because we recognize that privacy issues represent a growing concern for internet users, this section explains what information we collect when you use the Site and how we use such information. At present, we collect anonymous data and personally identifiable data. All information we collect on the Site is subject to our Privacy Policy. By using the Site, you consent to all actions taken by us with respect to your information in compliance with this Privacy Policy.

Anonymous data is data that cannot be traced back to specific users. This information is useful because it helps us to improve the user experience of our Site. Our web server tracks and collects general information about your visit to our Site. We collect these statistics to determine the number of daily visitors to our Site, the daily requests for particular files, the types of browsers our visitors use, the visitors’ domain names, and countries of origin.

From time to time, we may analyse browsing information and aggregate data for quality assurance, contextual advertising and other similar activities. We do not collect, and it is not our current policy to allow third parties to collect “targeted” cookies (persistent identifiers tracking users over time across different sites and services) for marketing purposes. In addition, we do not currently respond to “Do Not Track (DNT)” browser signals.

Personally identifiable information is data that tells us who you are—for example, your name or email address. We do not collect any personally identifiable data unless you volunteer such information to us. If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence. We only collect email addresses so that we may respond to users, provide information relevant to your vehicle inspection and to ask you about your customer service experience. We do not aggregate email addresses of those who communicate with us by email for any other commercial use without your prior consent. All personally identifiable data collected is for the internal use of AutoVIN, its vehicle inspection, audit and/or damage customers who requested our services (collectively, “Inspection Customers”, e.g. lease finance companies, motor vehicle dealerships, etc.) and their respective parent and affiliated companies, and their respective officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents and representatives. By providing AutoVIN with your personally identifiable data, you authorize us to internally share that information with our subsidiaries and affiliates and relevant Inspection Customers and their respective officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents and representatives and to use that information for internal purposes. We do not make any personally identifiable information available to third parties without your prior written express consent.

Security

AutoVIN takes commercially reasonable technical, physical and administrative measures to protect the confidentiality, integrity and security of your personally identifiable information. Of course, we cannot guarantee the security of your personally identifiable information on the Internet. The password-protected areas of our Site are secured by industry standard encryption. However, it is your responsibility to maintain the confidentiality of your password(s) and other user credentials. All personally identifiable information you provide to AutoVIN is secured on servers with restricted access. We reserve the right to use agents and service providers, who are bound by strict confidentiality guidelines, to perform storage and processing functions. We will store your personal information for as long as there is a business need for it in accordance with applicable record retention policies and a range of legal and regulatory recordkeeping requirements.

Cookies

AutoVIN employs “cookie” technology to help visitors move faster through the Site. When you sign on to our Site, we pass a cookie to your computer. A cookie is a string of information that is sent by a website and stored on the hard drive or temporarily in your computer’s memory. This leads to quicker navigation and a generally more positive experience searching for the information you desire. We may, from time to time, use similar technologies, including web beacons, pixel tags, flash objects and/or third party widgets for purposes of enhancing your web or mobile experience and/or for purposes of allowing you to share information on another platform, such as a social media platform.

Disclosure

AutoVIN discloses no personal information to third parties except as specifically identified in this Privacy Policy unless disclosure is required by law or regulation or is pertinent to judicial or government investigations or proceedings.

Opt-Out and Updating Information

You have choices about how we use your personal information. If you would like to update personal information previously submitted to AutoVIN, request to have outdated personal information removed, or withdraw consent to the use or disclosure of your personal information, please email contactus@autovin.com.

Amendments

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time by updating it on the Site and dating the most recent update. You should visit this page periodically to review any changes. In addition, this Privacy Policy may be supplemented or amended from time to time by separate “Privacy Notices”. Generally, such privacy notices provide details about personally identifiable information we may collect on particular pages or areas of the Site. When you sign up for any special features or password protected areas of the Site, you may also be asked to expressly consent to special terms. If at any time you find our Privacy Policy unacceptable, you should not access the Site.
